Is a merged world. "Did not you think (actually) it was too silly for Professor Oak to know only 150 pokemon? Being a researcher at least 30 years old, having students, colleagues and relatives around the world. I know that this reconnect is not perfect, but now the pokemon world has more elements than only generation 1 as happened with Origins.

It's not like the anime cared that much about continuity anyway. Especially after almost two decades.

We had stuff like Mega evolutions in Origins, so this is hardly any worse.

Pretty sure most are only going to watch and see some of the scenes, Marshadow, and the high chances the old man possibly being Red in the same universe as Ash. Also, I'm pretty sure the most recent trailer triggered many Genwunners. Good job Nintendo.

I think is just the official take on Ash's journey "in-game" idk maybe they'll make him a protag for a game. Yellow was based on the Anime so its possible.
