I honestly doubt Prime 4 and Samus Returns were in development when Federation Force was happening. If Nintendo had any foresight, they would have been announced alongside Federation Force, and if they had any sense, they would have announced one of them when the entirely predictable shitstorm happened.

Sadly, Nintendo lacked any sort of sense ever since they pissed off a good amount of people last year where they announced that crappy Federation Force game during Metroid's 30th anniversary and adding fuel to the fire is the harsh DMCA takedown of the awesome fan-made AM2R game. It was complete fan demand that Nintendo finally got the damn message.

If Nintendo had admitted that they were working on an actual Metroid 2 remake, it wouldn't have burned the bridge as hard in regards to AM2R. The fact that they killed a decade of work just to push a game that was using a vague and horrible Metroid skin to try and sell it was a insult to the fanbase.
At the same time, part of me can imagine that the remake was made in under a year when they saw the fallout and realized how much people actually loved the fangame in a desperate attempt to make a profit from them.
I'm just waiting on more gameplay before I commit to it.

I agree, That's why I'm weary for the new "remake" of Metroid 2 since they screwed over a truly devoted Metroid fan's work, just to release "their" version in order to make a profit. However like you Bacon, I will wait for further details on the game before we make anymore judgments.

I like how when a game doesn't meet one's expectations its automatically 'shit", yes the story in Other M could have used work (it was a bad idea to base it off a comic book almost no one outside super diehard Metroid fans read) but it wasn't a 'horrible' game. Also I rather enjoyed MMX3. Also lol @ FF 'flopping', just because it wasn't Super Metroid 2 or Prime 4 doesn't mean its a bad game. It brought some world building to the Prime world/series. Jeez people say Sonic has the worst fanbase but you Metroid fans are giving it a run for its money that's for sure

In all seriousness, Sakamoto treated Other M as an experiment, not like it was a 'success' or something. He tried something new, and the reaction he got from fans prompted this; a return to what made Metroid games so fun to play in the first place.
From what I've seen of Samus Returns, this game won't disappoint the majority of players. Only the vocal minority will continue to bitch for no good reason.
