Technically queen and princess are the same thing, a female ruler. The difference is that a queen shares her power with a king, but a princess rules alone.

In what universe are queens and princesses the same thing, anon? A queen is the monarch of a kingdom or the monarch's wife. A princess is just a potential heir to the kingdom or the wife of an heir. It's not the same at all. A princess doesn't rule anything unless they're given a domain by their parents.

In universe, Bubblegum as the ruler of the candy kingdom is more like a queen than Marceline, who is more like a princess, being the daughter of the ruler of the underworld. Marceline being the queen of vampires doesn't really mean much without a vampire kingdom.
