I used to love Splatoon too, before I found out that the matchmaking system was completely rigged.

The better you play, the weaker the team they put you in. I guess this was done out of some strange impulse to "even things out" between teams. In practice, it just means you have to carry a weak team all the time because you're the only one in it who's any good, and it doesn't work.

I can't tell you the amount of times I was "MVP" of the match across both teams and yet still lost the game. It was the rule rather than the exception. So far, I don't have the impression that the matchmaking Splatoon 2 is any better, and I'm not planning on buying it.

Nah man, I’ve had plenty of games where we’ve steamrolled while having less overall kills period. It has to do with how objective minded your team is, what map you’re on, and what weapons your team has. Like if it’s Moray Towers, they all have ranged weapons and your team’s all rollers, you’re going to have some problems.

@2195040

I knew someone would come around and say this, so predictable and childish. Apparently you can't read. I was actually too good at the game, which was, paradoxically, the reason I kept losing. Given my playing experience (level), my kill count, ground covered and overall scores were disproportionately high. I frequently beat players of a much higher level than me. That's why the matchmaking system determined I should be in weaker teams, to even things out. Splatoon isn't the only game that does this. I have heard people make the same complaint about Overwatch, effectively being punished for good play by being demoted to a team that's much weaker than you.

Explain to me exactly how it's possible to lose game after game, even though you're the strongest player in the match most of the time? I'm talking in terms of kills, least amount of deaths, ground covered in ink, everything. Splatoon constantly forced me to be the leader of a weak team, which is not how an online multiplayer game should function. It's clear that Nintendo has a lot to learn when it comes to creating a balanced matchmaking system.

I know I'm preaching to the wrong choir here, many of you are probably nintendo fanboys who can't except criticism of their games. You can respond with childish comments and taunt me, but unless somebody can stand up and defend the actual matchmaking system in Splatoon and how it works using facts and details, I know I'm right.
