I liked the tag and the name, but I can see why it was done. It seems like a thing to simplify the tag system. Having "straight shota" is a little redundant because it really does mean the same thing as "shota+hetero". It may be a popular term, but it does the tag system no good to be concerned with semantics.
In a way the tag cluttered the system. One could tag a post "hetero" only, leaving it out of the "straight_shota" pool, or vice-versa. That separated posts that should be linked by their content. I could potentially miss out on some nice posts because of that.

Getting rid of the straight_shota tag and replacing with two others makes these pictures harder to search for. This is for the simple reason that, in order to find you want, straight shota pictures now need 2 correct tags in stead of one like before. And since pictures are often tagged improperly or insufficiently, this change is a bad thing for shota lovers.
Even if the old "straight_shota" tag has somehow been completely converted to two "hetero" and "straight" tags, this still means that all straight shota pics that will be uploaded from now on will be harder to find, simply because many will not have both the shota and hetero tags, but only one of them, if not neither.
