It was brought up by others. Danboru did it first. Other than myself, two other mods and both admins agreed it was a pointless tag. This is the result of a shit-load of anal-retentive persons.

it's also not anal-rententive. the general rule here for compound tags is that if two tags related to the compound tag is used in a tag search and can yield the same results, then the compound tag is not needed.

alot of posts that are hetero wont use that tag tho. now people who used to search straight-shota will now have to search shota -yaoi and hope for the best. Obviously everyone who didnt want that tag never had to use it. I am disappointed.

FYI, every post that had the straight_shota tag now has both hetero and shota tags so nothing was lost from the search.

I also populated the hetero tag so it is nearly twice the size it was, around 5% of all posts now have a hetero tag.

Was the same done to the mature tag? It seems to have been folded into milf. (Danbooru did the opposite, they folded milf into mature.)

^ Yes. We shouldn't have two tags for the same thing and they were effectively being use for the same thing. However we had way more milf than mature for historical reasons and the rest of the staff were left undecided as to what to do with it so I made the call to put everything into milf here because it was the easier edit. It can still be changed later if needs be.

Seems like very few people are happy that the tag is gone. You're right that that all of the old pics can now be found under 'shota hetero', but I strongly doubt that people are gonna be consistent about adding the hetero tag to new uploads.
