Needs the hagakure_tooru tag.

Tooru is in that scene. There needs to be a tag here.

If tooru really was in this picture, there would be an absence of water in the place she is, but we see no holes in the water.

#2259387 That doesn't mean she doesn't have mass, she's not on the image, you can't see water displaced

Anon #2263139 Does have a point. tooru is invisible but she is tangible and occupies space. so the water should mold into tooru's shape if she's really there. false tag.

But this would also be true for air then, wouldn't it?
The optical density of air is different from that of vacuum.
This always bothered me about invisibility. Or at least it bothered me since I've learnt about that in school

Sounds right to me, 2 things can't generally occupy the same space. Now invisibility will always bug me. Thank you.

It's the difference in refractive index (essentially the speed which light travels through something) that causes otherwise transparent things to be visible in air/submerged in water (causes the light to bend). So, if she had the same refractive index as air, then it would make perfect sense to be invisible in air. Invisibility is fine in a sense.

In other comments here someone mentioned her skin "reflects light" which doesn't quite make sense, she's not mirrored. But, if it meant that it bent light around to the spot on her other side on her skin where it otherwise would have gone if she wasn't there, makes more sense.

Neither of these change the water thing.

For either of them, if it works in water (changes her refractive index perhaps?) she could be underwater. Or, just sitting next to the water on the ground.
