This was only in the manga!

Kushana (on the right) is addressing her mother who became insane when an assassination attempt was made on her baby daughter (Kushana). Kushana's mother is clutching a doll she THINKS is her daughter. The "snakes" are the members of her own family who attempted to kill Kushana.

The movie only covers the 2 first volumes. Do some research guys, lol. It's even on wikipedia.

Errr... I was just watching the first season of Zero no Tsukaima. Isn't this, word for word, the same as what happened to Tabitha's mother (in episode 8 - Tabitha's Secret)? Guess it must have been a homage or something, and I missed it completely, even though I've read Nuasicaä (it was a long time ago, though).
