Why, Shantae didn't highlighted herself that much for Nintendo, only for Game Boy Color, for N3DS and for Wii U (well, this one doesn't count, is a dance dance revolution game).

anon2, are you an idiot? None of Shantae's games are anywhere near Dance Dance Revolution. She's had 4 platformers, all four of them have been on Nintendo platforms.

@Anon 2, Cloud isn't in any main Nintendo game, neither is Snake, and now Joker from Persona is also in Smash. So that is not a reason to discount Shantae.

^actually, despite Cloud not appearing in any Nintendo game, the franchise on the other hand, did appear in the nes and snes so cloud is chosen to represent final fantasy as a whole. Snake did appear in the nes (despite the fact the game isn't actually made by Kojima) and Persona did appear in a Nintendo 3ds in the form of persona Q; so basically if any game appears in a Nintendo console or handheld, there's a chance for a specific character from those franchise has a chance of appearing (as long if they aren't trophys)
