There are some well-written parts of Goblin Slayer, it’s true. The first episode is a case of an adventuring party doing all the wrong things, with completely logical results. It’s still fundamentally not my show, however, and not just because of the rape — though, that is a big part of it. Even watching this little clip is sickening enough, but worse than that, this sort of thing is happening on a massive scale. Every goblin out there is born of brutal rape. To the series’ credit, it doesn’t fetishize it, and portrays it as the horrible experience it is. It also certainly gives the Goblin Slayer a very good reason to hate them and dedicate his life to wiping them out. I would too, were I in that setting.

Still edgy as hell though.
