I thought he kept his helmet on in case of surprise attacks and would need coaxing to remove it. There’s even a goblin right there albeit not the kind he’s familiar with but I guess in order to more easily tell that the casting director is him it has to be off. It’s not like most of these casting couch scenarios hold any weight but there’s a few that stretch razor thin.

There is no need to question about helmet,
Goblin Slayer is like Master Chief in Halo 1, when he removes his helmet, there but another helmet under it.

Actually, we *do* see him with his helmet off in the anime, but I'm not sure about the manga. He's pretty generic looking, other than being scarred.
