I think they saw a hollow point bullet and thought the hollow area is where the projectile is stored. Artists outside the US trying to guess how guns work is kinda cute.

I feel like this is more an individual thing than a country thing. Lot of artists living in countries where guns are highly restricted still know how they work because they have the internet and do some research.
