I'd say it's a vorpal throwing axe, but then it'd only stop because the handle'd get stuck on the mast. If he threw it hard enough to go through that many people it either wouldn't spin at all because it'd be travelling so fast it's energy is difficult to quantify, or it would be spinning so fast it would have to be so perfectly shaped it couldn't actually have as much wobble as depicted or it'd end up literally flying off in a random direction because of the amount of lift generated by the spinning blade. (lift being relative, down is just as viable a direction as up or side to side.)
