No it's because they notice the "vampires" and angel/spirit of Gigil in the crowd that aren't in the other picture. I honestly think there's more compatibility between Mylene and Gamlin than her and Basara. Despite eventually coming together as the band they still fight/argue, and get on each others nerves a lot.

I definitely prefer Mylene with Gamlin honestly. Mostly because Basara shows zero romantic interest in her and is much more like a brother. Also this is a much happier picture because everyone is happy here , even Basara and even Gigil's spirit came to see this happy occasion ( note the halo above his head. ) The other " vampires " came too ( means this would be non canon lol ) but I don't think Gamlin ever lost his chance.

I actually really fucking love Basara's character so that's why I don't think he should be in a romantic relationship that he's shown no romantic interest in. Out of the Macross love triangles this one is the strangest in that we never truly see it get a resolution.
