At first I thought this was the Metal Storm's 3GL, a grenade launcher.

Being a superpose or stacked ammunition firearm, the rounds nose touch the butt (ha!) of the round in front of it. Being an electronic firearm, it would use electricity to ignite the front round's gunpowder, meanwhile the rounds behind it have "skirts" or heat shields that keep the heat from the igniting round in the front from reaching the back of the rounds behind it and causing a sympathetic ignition.
