Mew is a very good fit both because First Installment Wins, and because Mew is the father of all Pokemon. Disregarding the Creation Myths that came with the newer generations (and them being myths it puts a damper on their truthfulness), Mew has been outright stated to have DNA in common with every Pokemon.
Other than this, the cards are molded after the "original" Arcanas, and Mew's body is much more flexible and fitting than either that giant llama or Godzilla ripoffs...

I recognize ALL these pokemon and I'm NOT upset, Pokemon is awesome, and I actually pride myself on my knowledge of Pokemon. ^^
