I think it would have been nice if Kirin and Matsuri had become an item by the end of the Anime. Shinobu had a few other lovers, it was a shame Matsuri and Kirin didn't end up together, maybe the Anime could have then had another scene with the two of them.

I wouldn't say missleading. The anime may be drawn in a similar way to Bleach but it they aren't tagged as Bleach characters.
