Not as powerful as the M14, it is actually an M1A1, incapable of full automatic fire

I do believe the bayonet is a little inaccurate.

Its just as powerful and you can't hit the broadside of a star destroyer with an M14 on full auto.

Not as powerful, as in, only semi-automatic fire

The gun depicted here is indeed an M14 as evidenced by the fire selector switch under the rear sight.

However, it is of note that the gun that Rei uses in the series is, in fact, the Springfield M1A, which has no such switch as it is semi-auto only (except for a few of the early models, which she doesn't have).

Did you ever consider that the one in the series uses an M14 Receiver, not an M1A1 receiver? The weapons have compatible parts and the M14 saw alot of service in Asia. It doesn't seem impossible at all for some uncut M14 recievers (Which were destroyed in the U.S. under that retarded Assault Weapons Ban law) still existed in private hands and that one could have made it's way to the ownership of the policewoman who was the true owner of the rifle depicted here?
