Wow, this one is pretty dangerous. It also raises the question of whether or not "turning the human lands into a demon realm" includes all of earth, or just a large nearby area (that is then somehow teleported to the "main" demon realm).

Yeah it has bugged me how it's being translated to men's "spirit energy" now all of the sudden.

Theoretically it should be, but salamanders already bring the image of a slimy reptile to most people's minds (at least I know that when I hear the word salamander, I think of tiny lizards and not fire spirits), and Kenkou probably knew this, and choose to save the name for a different monster (because we've only got 2 actual reptile girls not counting the half-snake ones).
