She is a youkai that's Hong_Meiling's future-self. It's unknown if ZUN (Oota_Jun'ya) is aware of this character. Lie first appeared in the fan game Touhou Rekkaden as the final boss and reappeared as the mid-boss of the Extra stage along with Hakurei_Reimu and Yakumo_Yukari. She was formerly the gatekeeper of the Scarlet_Devil_Mansion known as Hong_Meiling and is described as not being a friendly character. She is basically a palette_swapped version of Hong Meiling, with darker hair and clothes. The character "烈" in her name means "strong, intense, violent, ardent". Not to be confused with Li_Meiling (李苺鈴 Ri Meirin, Chinese: Lǐ méilíng), a young girl in the Card_Captor_Sakura anime. Li Meiling has long, black hair in a double_bun and twintails.
