Now Viewing: myouren_templeTag type: General 命蓮寺/みょうれんじ AKA: 聖輦船 hiragana: せいれんせん Seirensen, "Palanquin Ship" and 雲上の宝船 Unjou no Takarabune, "Treasure Ship Above the Clouds" Myouren Temple — or "Myourenji" (named after Hijiri_Byakuren's brother and fellow monk, Hijiri_Myouren) — is a Buddhist shrine and residence of the Myouren Temple Clan, led by Headmistress Hijiri_Byakuren and her followers who believe in her ideal of peace between youkai-human through teachings of Buddhism. In addition to her followers, there are some other youkais that live there. This temple was established after events of Undefined_Fantastic_Object, in which the Palanquin_Ship landed near the Human_Village with help from local goddess Moriya_Suwako and Kochiya_Sanae. Since it was converted from the Palanquin_Ship, the temple retains ability to transform into the Palanquin_Ship and vice versa. Now, Myouren Temple serves as Buddhist temple for both human and youkai, in accordance with Byakuren's ideal of harmony between human and youkai. However, while harmless youkai such as Kyouko_Kasodani are welcomed, other youkai who tried to join with unsound intentions (such as attacking human visitors) are turned away. Most humans view Myouren Temple in positive light, with no small thanks to Toramaru_Shou's blessing of luck for wealth. Still, some people are still wary of Myouren Temple for their ideology and youkai members. In Ten Desires, it was revealed that Myouren Temple had another purpose — sealing the Yumedono_Daishibyou (Hall of Dreams' Great Mausoleum). While Byakuren had no idea what it was, Nazrin's ability indicated a being of great power, leading her to assume that it was something dangerous. This, in addition to Toyosatomimi_no_Miko and Mononobe_no_Futo's disdainful attitude to Buddhism and Houjuu_Nue's attempt to defeat Miko with the help of Futatsuiwa_Mamizou, caused Toyosatomimi_no_Miko and her followers to consider the Myouren Temple as their enemy. In Symposium_of_Post-mysticism, it was revealed that most of Myouren Temple's members are doing unsanctioned activities in secret, such as eating meat and drinking sake — Much to Byakuren's dismay.
