She is the only woman in the famous mercenary group/army Band of the Hawk and is quite tomboyish in appearance and personality due to spending so much time around men. She is a very skilled fighter and is well respected in the Band. She is initially very rude to Guts and is jealous over how quickly Guts seems to gain the Hawk's leader, Griffith's, trust. However, she gradually becomes closer to Guts.
