It was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004 and was rereleased for the Playstation 2 as Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. It is set directly after the original Kingdom Hearts game so there are spoilers for that game. Sora, Donald, and Goofy are continuing their search for Riku who has once again been separated from Sora and has disappeared when they stumble upon a mysterious white castle called Castle Oblivion. The heroes learn from a mysterious hooded figure that they will begin losing their memories upon entering the castle and in fact, they have already forgotten their abilities. Said figure informs them that everything in the castle is also based on their memories and gives them a deck of cards based off of their abilities. Undeterred, the heroes soldier on and the hooded figure's words prove to be true. Sora also begins to suddenly remember a blonde girl named Namine who was apparently a close friend of his. He learns that a group known as Organization XIII is holding her captive in the castle and grows increasingly fanatical in his quest to rescue her. At the same time, Riku also stumbles into the castle. . . The game changes the combat system of Kingdom Hearts by using a real time card battling system. All of the characters' attacks can only be activated with cards. The game features two story modes: one starring Sora, Donald, and Goofy, and the other starring Riku.
