Unlike many other slice of life comedies, this series has a comparatively more equal male-to-female ratio in the cast. The manga debuted in 2004 and was adapted into four seasons of anime, all of which were animated by different studios. Because of this, each season has a different style even though they have the same cast and are all slice of life comedies. The series frequently uses art shifts. Characters' faces often suddenly switch to a more detailed and realistic style to punctuate a gag. The series is also known for having its characters frequently make a chestnut_mouth.
