She is an eccentric girl who is feared by her classmates because of her refusal to talk to others and because of her penchant for flashing intense glares. Ebina is one of the only people who thinks otherwise, believing that Motoba is not a scary girl. One day, Umaru in her indoor persona, suddenly discovers Motoba at her doorstep, making Motoba the first person besides Taihei to see Umaru as her indoor self. Fortunately for Umaru, Motoba doesn't recognize Umaru and assumes the indoor chibi form is Umaru's younger sister, an incorrect assumption that Umaru goes along with, dubbing this persona 'Komaru'. As Umaru talks to Motoba, she learns that Motoba was looking for Umaru in order to give back her school ID, which she had dropped at school. It turns out that Motoba is, in fact, an extremely shy and awkward girl and her intense demeanor is a result of not knowing how to communicate with others. She is quite attracted to Umaru, both her public and indoor personas. She wants to get closer to Umaru's public self and asks Komaru for help to get closer to Umaru. Due to her fixation on Umaru, she gets jealous when others, such as Ebina, seem to compete for her attention. After this chance meeting, public Umaru becomes friends with Motoba. When Umaru interacts with Motoba as her 'Komaru' persona, she doesn't hide her hobbies since Motoba doesn't know that Umaru and Komaru are the same person. Motoba is also a good swimmer second only to Umaru herself and is generally good at sports. She is voiced by Shiraishi_Haruka.
