Now Viewing: muteki_choujin_zambot_3Tag type: Copyright Muteki_choujin_zambot_3_(ザンボット3) is a super robot show made in 1977 by Tomino_Yoshiyuki, character designs by Yasuhiko_Yoshikazu. The story is set during a invasion of earth by a race known as the gaizok, the Jin family a group of aliens who in the past had fled the destruction of their planet Beal have now been living on earth for some time and plan to stop the gaizok by creating 3 vehicles that combine to form the super robot Zambot 3. While the plot was typical 70s mecha faire, its the execution that separated Zambot 3 from its contemporaries, city's were not destroyed and rebuilt the next episode, the civilians blamed the main characters for said destruction instead of the invaders, and the brutal realities of making a child fight in a giant war machine were made clear. This makes it the first real deconstruction of the mecha genre 18 years before Evangelion.
