Unfortunately, he read the mind of his father and learned how much his father hated him. This information drove Psycho Mantis mad and he later joined Liquid Snake's group in order to kill and torment more people. He is one of the bosses fought in Metal Gear Solid and is famous for the fourth wall breaking tricks he pulls on the player. As he has psychic powers, he can control people's minds, telepathically fling objects, and predict and counter every single move Solid Snake can throw at him. The fight with him has numerous secrets. His comments towards Snake and by extension the player will be different depending on how the player played the game and what information the player has saved on his/her memory card. There is also more than one method to defeat Psycho Mantis. His fight is significantly altered in the graphic novel and novelization of Metal Gear Solid due to some of the tricks he pulls and the default solution to defeat him would only make sense in a video game. His younger self also appears in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain under the name Tretij Rebonek. He is voiced by Sogabe_Kazuyuki in Japanese and Doug Stone in English.
