U-511 is the personification of the Type IXC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World_War_II before she was sold to the Imperial_Japanese_Navy and became RO-500_(Kantai_Collection). She is very pale, and has long light blonde hair and blue eyes. She wears a garrison_cap with dog ear-like protrusions coming from the back of it, a cropped jacket with a black dress and what could be either black pantyhose or thighhighs with bike shorts. She speaks softly and quietly, and seems very nervous and shy. She mentions in lines about how she is getting used to Japanese culture and the Japanese language. Due to her shyness she delivers most of her lines simply and frankly, seemingly trying to conceal her nervousness and emotions. Refers to herself as "Yuu".
