Now Viewing: william_jonesTag type: Character A blonde young aristocratic man and the male lead of Victorian Romance Emma. He usually wears a suit, top hat, and gloves. He is the oldest son of Richard Jones and is set to inherit the Jones company. William is something of an oddball in his noveau riche family, which frustrates his father and siblings who often claim they can't understand the way William thinks. William does not care for class stratification and dislikes it when people stubbornly uphold tradition which he believes his father is guilty of doing. Richard, for his part, often feels that William is unfocused and irresponsible. William decides to pay a visit to governess Kelly Stownar, who had educated him in the past, when he meets and instantly falls in love with Stownar's maid Emma. After he meets her, he comes up with any excuse he can think of to visit Emma. The two of them develop strong romantic feelings for each other but Emma is worried about the fact that the two of them are from different social statuses. William initially is unconcerned about their class differences but becomes much more aware of them and what he is up against as his relationship with Emma becomes known. Richard and William's siblings firmly reject the relationship because Emma is a maid and William getting together with Emma will tarnish the Jones family name in the eyes of high society. Richard instead wants William to get together with Eleanor Campbell of the aristocratic Campbell family which will raise the status of the Jones Family. William does not dislike Eleanor, but Emma is the only one for him. Unfortunately, William is faced with a lot of pressure from family members and society and he ends up having to spend a lot of time with Eleanor who is in love with him. William is close friends with the Indian prince Hakim Atawari who encourages William's relationship with Emma. While William can seem indecisive at times, once he comes to a decision and sets his mind on something, he refuses to give up and goes to great lengths to accomplish his goals.
