Now Viewing: saturday_night_feverTag type: Copyright An American drama movie about disco dancing subculture, released on December 14, 1977. It was directed by John Badham and written by Norman Wexler and starred John_Travolta in one of his most famous roles as the protagonist Tony Manero. The film's iconic best-selling disco soundtrack was composed by the band The Beegees. The film was based on the article Tribal Rites of the New Saturday by Nik Cohn. Said article was initially thought to be a factual account about the disco subculture, but Cohn, two decades after the film's release, admitted that the article was entirely fictional. There are notably two versions of the film, the original version and a toned down PG version that removes the profanity and sexual content of the original. The film is widely considered to have popularized disco music and culture and many parodies of/references to disco often reference this movie. The film was followed by a 1983 sequel called Stayin' Alive that was directed by actor/director Sylvester_Stallone, the only movie that he directed where he wasn't the main star and only appears in a short cameo. Pictures with this tag usually indicate somebody imitating the pose John Travolta's character does on the poster, Nagae_Iku being a prime example (along with lightning). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Fever. see also pointing_up John_Travolta Nagae_Iku Other Wiki Information Last updated: 09/04/14 7:38 AM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
