She is also referred to as Halko, named after the character Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. She was interested in computers from a young age and studied PC communications in high school. During the late 1990s, she began singing/performing on the streets of Akihabara and Harajuku. This led to the start of her professional career as she released her first single with Mail Me. She made her voice acting in 2001 as Nakahara_Komugi in Soul_Taker, one of her most famous roles, and in 2002 formed a music duo with Koike Masaya called Under17, which lasted until 2004. Together, they performed theme songs for various anime and games. In 2008, she began producing music for the group Junjou no Afilia, a pop group consisting of singers who are affiliated with the cafe/restaurant chain Afilia. She frequently plays cheerful and petite girls and also sings the theme songs for most of the anime she voice acts in. She hit her peak popularity during the 2000s, becoming an otaku icon during that period thanks to her close association with Akihabara and its surrounding culture as well as her voice acting and singing.
