Now Viewing: imaichi_moenai_koTag type: Character いまいち萌えない娘 (いまいちもえないむすめ imaichi moenai musume / いまいちもえないこ imaichi moenai ko), "Lacking-in-Moé-Girl" is a mascot girl originating from a real job-placement advert by the Japanese newspaper Kobe_Shinbun posted on its website between December 29th, 2010 and January 14th, 2011. The ad depicted an anime/manga-style girl in wariza position, dressed in blue serafuku with blue thighhighs, very long blue_hair in twintails and blue_eyes, and asked applicants to give three reasons why she was lacking in moé. Initially, the girl was unnamed, but received several nicknames after she came to the attention of otaku-oriented sites such as 2channel. Among her nicknames was "Imaichi Moenai Ko", sometimes shortened to "Imaichi-san/tan." Fan artwork soon started been produced, oftentimes giving Imaichi more moé looks than those she had in the original advert. Kobe Shimbun released official guidelines on how to draw Imaichi-san and started releasing Imaichi-san merchandise. Profits from Imaichi Moenai Ko merchandise go to charity and her image is used to promote regional events. She appears in TV, radio, manga and games. Official guidelines prohibit her use for profit or for any purpose offensive to public order and morals.
