Now Viewing: capcomTag type: Copyright The third party video game company behind the renowned Mega Man, Street Fighter and Bionic Commando franchises. The company was derived from I.R.M. Corporation and Japan Capsule Computers Co. Ltd. which were formed in 1979. The two companies came together to become Capcom in June 11, 1983. The name Capcom is a portmanteau of Capsule Computers. The company started off creating arcade games, but they eventually expanded into creating console games as well and have created games for all sorts of consoles. They are also fond of creating crossover fighting games with other companies. Capcom has frequently collaborated with Marvel, starting with the 1994 fighting game X Men: Children of the Atom. They have also adapted numerous works into video games like Jojo na Kimyou no Bouken (also the inspiration for some Street Fighter characters), Alien vs Predator, and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. During the 1990s, they were often considered to be rivals to SNK amongst fighting game fans. While the company has created many iconic franchises, it has become notorious for alienating quite a few of its employees as well as other controversial practices. Video game creators like Mikami Shinji, Inafune Keiji, and Suda Goichi have worked for Capcom in the past, but eventually severed ties with them to form their own companies, although the characters they've created can still be used in crossovers. capcom-unity.com/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capcom megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Capcom Other Wiki Information Last updated: 02/11/16 6:58 AM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
