A TV special was released on October 31, 2004, twenty years after the final episode of the original series. The soundtrack was composed by Haneda Kentarou. The series focuses on the adventures of the eponymous Western criminal investigation division. Said division is led by Chief Daimon and he and his fellow officers are known as the Daimon Force. The series is known for featuring a lot of car stunts and explosions, even by action series standards. The show was notably sponsored by Nissan whose cars are prominently featured in the series. Hero Daimon drives a Skyline Machine-X, a modified version of C210 Skyline Japan 2000GT Turbo. The show's success helped popularize the car. The show's action packed opening montages, set to the theme song Wonderful Guys, are often frequently parodied.
