Now Viewing: resident_evil_2_(remake)Tag type: Copyright Tag refers to images referencing the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2. It was released on January 29, 2019 for Windows, XBOX One, and Playstation 4. The remake was handled by an entirely different cast and crew from the original. It was directed by Kadoi Kazunori and Kanda Tsuyoshi with art by Gez_Fry and Takamatsu_Satoshi. The soundtrack is composed by Uchiyama Shusaku, Kang Zhenlan, Nakashima Kentaro, and Makino Tadayoshi. The remake adopts the over-the-shoulder perspective that has been the series norm since Resident Evil 4, but emphasizes the horror aspect more by deliberately having many of the environments plunged in darkness, forcing the characters to use flashlights and advance cautiously. It is also notably gorier than the already gory original with damage done to bodies rendered in much more realistic detail. The remake follows the general plot of the original game relatively faithfully, but makes quite a few minor changes to the story and gameplay to accommodate the new style. Many of the minor changes have their origins in the prototype version of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 1.5, and the developers decided to incorporate those discarded ideas into the remake. It retains the original's A/B scenario to a lesser degree. The remake was also a massive critical and financial success, selling 3 million copies worldwide within its first week. The success of this remake paved the way for further remakes of past mainline Resident Evil games, which take a similar approach as this game did to their source material.
