I think Cloud wanting to shake hands with Link is meta as fuck.

Link is one of Nintendo's golden boys, as is Cloud for Square. However, Cloud stared in the very game that completely broke all ties between Nintendo and Square. Now, here they are, two icons of two titanic corporations coming together in a celebratory bash of video game history.

Sure, one could see this as Cloud holding no grudge with Link over their fated DEATH BATTLE match, but this also means that after so long, Nintendo and Square are finally companions again.
