The same thing can be applied if Robin was her father and Corrin marries Caeldori if Selena is her mother. But the thing is, unlike Selena, Laslow & Odin, the 3 child characters in question are NOT like the ones they were inspired by in Awakening! Gaius is a theif, Asugi is a ninja. Cordelia is said to be one of the worse runners, Caeldori is the best sprinter. Rhajat is much less reclusive, Tharja is more likely to use you as a test subject.

The real paradox here is how, in order to have Selena be Caeldori's mother, she has to marry Subaki, and in the SelenaxSubaki paired ending, it says that Subaki became commander of Hoshido's pegasus knights and served with a perfect record, but then it immediately goes on to say that he vanished along with Selena after getting married and no one ever saw them again. He served with a perfect record despite vanishing forever. What kind of sense does THAT make, I ask you?

I mean, they are still different from the originals in certain ways, yes, but there's a VERY good reason some people believe the 3 expies to just be lazy copies of them and hate them for that very reason. Rhajat in particular gets a shitton of hate for apparently being even creepier than Tharja, not to mention the fact that she's the gay option for a female Corrin and not Soleil. All the same, Selena x Subaki is a popular option for many people solely because Severa gets to be the mother to her own mother, and it is for exactly that reason that I can't help but roll my eyes at the pairing's popularity.
