The difference is obvious.

To spare yourself from getting a headache though, please refrain from asking me about the details.

Danbooru:
Images have to be enjoyed by mods to get posted (meaning it's got less content than here)
Loads and loads of pseudo-intellectual critics of art
Idiots who downvote every comment that isn't "This looks cool"
crappy tag search system
Better organization of pictures
Flame wars are extreme (people were arguing about calling Haruka "may" and then it devolved into dubbing wars and how 4kids should burn in hell, holy shit)
More Assholes

Gelbooru:
Images have to be japanese only (But more content :P)
Too many duplicates
Loads and loads of idiots who try to be funny or witty on many posts
Upvotes for a lot of "OMG I WANNA F- HER" comments, which appears everywhere.
Loads of subjective tags (Sexy shouldn't even be a tag)
Worse organization (no offense)
Less assholes

In short:

Both sites have their ups and downs. I'd rather be here than Dan though.

I really hope this doesn't just devolve into a "Why Danbooru sucks" thread.

I would say, but I like ILM's suggestion :P

Then again, that IS a good question...

The differences are simple, but easy to recognize.

Danbooru mods will not let you upload various images--even if they're by the same artist and in the same style as something that was approved mouths ago--based on their subjective, constantly changing definition of what "quality art" is, and they become extremely defensive when you call them out on their bullshit.

Gelbooru mods are generally nice people, but they don't let you start threads ever.

This thread doesn't even exist. We're all hallucinating it in The Matrix.

I've never once had a problem with threads being deleted. I've had posts deleted once or twice for posting in threads talking about matters I had no role in because I'm not a mod, but never a thread. And this thread has some valid questions going on, so it's all peaches 'n' cream around here

For that matter, not once have I had that problem at Danbooru. I've had an image fall through the moderation cracks before, and when I put them in the restore request thread it was approved within the hour.

But, then again, I don't upload there as often as I do here.

An almost perfect reasonable explanation.

By the way, I'm curious to know: Does the person/guy/girl who owns Danbooru, also owns Gelbooru ?

1) And arguably, the quality there is higher.
2) Versus people who absolutely no standards at all here.
3) The comments I typically see downvoted on Danbooru are comments that are typically upvoted here.

For lack of a better word, that means they're shite.
4) I'll concede this, the only two tag searches are shit. It used to be there because Danbooru's servers were garbage, but now it's just there as a marketing ploy.
6) You have those people on every single website that ever got more than two people on it.

The only relation Gel and Danbooru have that I'm aware of is that Danbooru shares it's images.

And probably sends us the rejects who get banned from there.
