2) Versus people who absolutely no standards at all here.

You can't make the argument Danbooru has standards when the mods change their standards on a daily basis.

I have never once been on the receiving end of that problem.

Might be.

Downvoted posts in both sites seems to boil down to be the ones that disagree to what the majority has to say.

Why, the other day I saw a topic here pointing out how downvoting negative posts was gradually becoming a awfully popular thing to do. A statement that holds truth for both sites.

That's something else that's the same everywhere, I absolutely hate it.

How did you come to that conclusion ?

Yeah, not definite proof, but hey...

I think the possibly best proof on differences is this certain picture:

gelbooru.com/index.php?pa...&id=456485&pid=10

It represents clearly the lack of knowledge and maybe even intelligence a lot of people surfing gelbooru have. That picture was made by a well-known person who draws guro/abuse pics in an often sexually way.
Not much of research would have been neccesary for that. Yet, if you look at the comments it's pretty clear that they interpret it much differently and don't get the idea behind it at all. Of course they even fail to differ between a picture and RL.
More fail is barely possible on an imageboard like this.

hxxp://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/421095/3886-abuse-black_hair-bruise-doctor-elf-examinatio

The same picture at danbooru.
Just the second comment already stated out the personality of this artist. They have much more insight on the material obviously.
Of course the commentary has a higher quality too.

Still i would never go to danbooru, for they hide my loli.
But it's not like gelbooru would miss me either. I've done nothing for this site besides maybe generating page views. Neither did i contribute pictures, nor have i time for tagging stuff.

Thats a good point. Danbooru has (slightly) more intelligent surfers, and most on Gel are....

Well...I won't start a flame fest but eh.

Still, you're gonna get that anywhere. I'm still horrifically annoyed by the amount of times I've been down-voted for voicing any criticism.. no matter how piddly or small.

As far as downsides are concerned, I've seen plenty of people making some pretty stupid comments on Gelbooru's pictures before. Tag vandalism happens to be somewhat of a problem, especially with Naruto images, where users would often delete an image's tags because it contains a Naruto pairing they don't like. It really makes me wonder if these users are actually 18 and up.

However, the stupid comments on this site are often just one-liner sentences that are along the lines of "OMG I WANNA FUCK HER!!~", and the tag vandalism is often easy to revert. The idiots that come here are far easier to ignore than the assholes that make up Danbooru's veteran/moderator population. Their picture approval process is often arbitrary and inconsistent--Sometimes, a picture of questionable quality gets posted by a veteran member who doesn't need approval, and if a non-veteran user posts a picture of similar quality (sometimes by the same artist), it gets deleted by a mod. There's always a massive argument between the uploaders who don't see a problem with an image and the moderators/veterans who do.

However, what really put my piss to a boil is illustrated on this discussion:

danbooru.donmai.us/forum/show/17167

I can understand that the guys over there would prefer to have quality pictures on the site, but seriously, going on a crusade against inexperienced users by proposing restrictions on what they can view (much less upload) is really taking it too far. What good is restricting new users going to do to improve the overall picture quality if they can't even be fully consistent with their own approval process? They even went as far as to label inexperienced users as idiots that come to the site "for a quick fap". Why the hell should anyone care about whether people come to fap in the first place? The way they handle these things really makes me question overall maturity of the moderation/veteran userbase on Danbooru itself--I get the feeling that they don't realize that they're not the only site that has had to deal with idiots.

To sum it up

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

That is above all the WORST idea i've ever heard. Restricting user privileges to weed out "idiots"? What the bitch tits.....

I forgot all about that thread.

As far as I know though, nothing really came of it, thank god.

Yeah, but it really shows just how rotten many of the mods and veteran members can be over there. I mean, I've seen asshole users before, but when the much of the assholes are made up of people responsible for taking care of the site, then there's a line crossed.

That's why I never really returned to Danbooru after it closed down three years ago, even after they reopened it a few months later.
