Auto-tagging for standard wallpaper sizes and ratio ?
Posted on: 08/06/08 02:12PM

Hi there :]

So here is a suggestion I was thinking about (sorry not to use the mantis tracker but the e-mail confirmation doesn't seem to be coming ^^' ) : adding automatically the picture's resolution once it is uploaded, at least for the standard screen resolutions, such as :

640x480
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x800
1280x960
1280x1024
1600x900
1600x1200
1680x1050
1920x1200
1920x1440
2048x1536
2560x1600 ... well I guess you get the idea :)

Maybe even do the same for "dual screen" resolutions ^^

Same thing with standard ratios : "4/3", "5/4", "16/9" and "16/10".

I believe that could help a lot people looking for a wallpaper that'd fit well on their desktop without stretching, or that would adapt well due to it being the good ratio.

You can post tickets as anonymous. :)

Would it only check the resolution if the image is tagged with wallpaper?

As you wish ^^
I think that anything with the right resolution may be considered a potential wallpaper (and even pictures that don't match a resolution could be one, when centered :p ) so I'd say it would be nice to tag the resolution even if noone tagged it as wallpaper, but it should be the admins' choice.

I think this sounds like a good idea. It would make it much easier for those searching for wallpapers.
