Yeah, but that exactly is the point of "branding" from a marketing perspective. To create an abstract identity that is recognizable for the customer, regardless of underlying context. They won't do what you want, since the very point of the entire practice is that you should not care or even know about it, just shut the fuck up and blindly consume their products and give them money.
With that said, deals like that are usually public (I think they even must be, legally? not sure about that), so technically, you can follow the trail, it is just obfuscated by a marketing layer, since most people do not care.
