I had both Red and Blue when they came out in the west. I played the fuck out of them. They were also so jank that it's amazing they even function, a lot like Final Fantasy 1. They were also the only Pokemon games I owned for a long time.

Played Gen 2 via emulation years later, fell in love all over again. Dark type has remained my favorite type, and I love Umbreon. It rivals Scyther for being my favorite of all time. Crystal is the only one I'll play, though, because it's just so much better than either Gold or Silver.

Gen 3... listen, people clown on that review where it says too much water, but it's FUCKING RIGHT. There's way too much surfing and diving was a lame mechanic. Maybe if they had added more Pokemon that could be encountered on the water it wouldn't have been nearly as bad, but, well...

I mainly played Emerald, but I never got too much into main Gen 3. I beat it and such, but that was kinda it. Now, the remakes of Gen 1 games, on the other hand, that was, as the kids say, my jam. I did everything I could in FireRed, and I still hold that Leaf is the best designed playable female Pokemon trainer.

Holy shit, Gen 4. What a terrible, cumbersome engine that ruined everything. So many HMs. What a terrible Pokedex. Platinum was a little better than Diamond and Pearl, but it couldn't save things. I actually ended up buying a copy of HeartGold, because I love Gen 2, but Gen 4's inherent bullshit killed it. I never finished it.

Gen 5 made things so much better under the hood that I nearly cried... and then I felt nothing from everything else. Pokemon designs felt soulless, character designs doubly so. Everything was just so dull and mechanical feeling, like it was made solely to be product. Which, ya know, it was.

Black/White 2 tried to fix some of the issues, and introduced Mei, which I slept on for a long time, design wise, but it didn't do enough to get me to actually finish it. After that, I just stopped. Nothing since has managed to get my attention enough to bother playing it.

The remakes do count as a new gen game. Generations aren't based on locations, but on time.
Releasing a remake of Godzilla on reiwa doesn't count as a "return to showa era" or a showa remake, it's still a reiwa movie based on the original showa movie.
FireRed/LeafGreen are remakes of the original 3 games, but they are not count on the early generation; they were released at the same time when the current generation was around. Where Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald was new at the time.
So yes, ORAS are Gen VI games and BDSP are Generation VIII games.

In fact, are we really naming gens based on main game releases? Because SM and XY (or SWSH and SV) are no different outside of visual and story differences. Both are using the same engine. At least with BW it had a upgraded engine to Platinum?

Well it's definitely in the realm of possibility after Skyla was described internally as "sexy latina pilot" and "based off Jennifer Lopez" LOL.

Again, I'm really curious if Hilda was designed after a celebrity known for wearing jean short hotpants. Also how old she is and if she's described as "sexy" or not.

Sorry for the late reply, but here's a link. Ignore the flavor text:

Finalized hex maniac is obviously way better, but man it's so interesting to see her looking like a normal girl. Makes me think there's some lore that she gradually escalated into becoming a creepy goth girl

She looks like a ordinary NPC. Judging by her hairstyle, she might had a witch hat like how she was potrayed in RSE.

What do you think of Elhawk? The name of that Blaziken-Latias hybrid?
