I think people should be teach what pedophilia is and why it is problematic:
1. Pedphilia is when someone who is a legal adult attempts to have sexual interactions with someone who is legally a minor and there is a 3-years gap between them.

2. Pedophilia isn't bad on its own because it is a mental illness that needs actual treatment. No average internet user, threatening pedophiles with a woodchipper won't help, if anything it makes their mental problem even worse.

3. What is bad is the production and consumption of CSEM because it involves the violation of someone who isn't in age to consent and therefore had to be harmed in the making of said material.

4. What makes CSEM bad is harming an actual child in the process of its production, that's the reason why regular cartoon porn can't qualify as CSEM since it is unlikely that a child was harmed in the process, on the other hand, both realistic hand-drawn porn and AI-generated images of porn can qualify as CSEM because realistic artwork requires lots of references to get the desired product, same deal for generative AI which needs millions of images in order to make it, meaning its database MUST contain bot real CSEM and realistic artwork to produce it.

5. An author of a character saying it is a minor doesn't mean it can be considered as such because in fiction any form of data can't be taken as real since said data points can be changed at any time, for example, one product of Superman represents the character as an adult while future products do represent him as a teenager, both represent the same character with conflicting data and that's because said data is fabricated in a way that isn't attached to reality, meaning no one in the real world can be harmed by the production of porn derivative of said character.

Without a proper teaching of what's pedophilia and why some cases are illegal while others aren't we will keep having the same debates over and over and over again without any kind of progress

Technically yes, and if they are 17 then what's the problem with waiting a few months to start fucking like rabbits? The name of the law for "having sex with minor" is called "statutory rape" (meaning consent of both parties is irrelevant because one party cannot legally give consent due to being underage AKA a minor), it's not called pedophilia. The official definition of pedophilia is "attraction to prepubescent children", period, it's not a legal term it's a clinical term.

I think we all know what pedophilia is. I mean, when people get arrested for cp, no one really questions if that person is actually attracted to children or not. The grey areas only exist in the realm of hypothetical speculation. On the other hand, I will say that castrating and isolating pedophiles in atrociously subhuman living conditions is barbaric and evil, even if what they did is moreso.

Now I can spare some sympathy for a non-offending pedophile. In fact, sometimes I think it's unfair that society wants to torture non-offenders who've made an honest oath to never touch a child.
