Now Viewing: daft_punkTag type: Copyright An award-winning French electronic duo consisting of close friends Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The two men were originally part of the band Darlin,' After the band disbanded, Manuel de Homem-Christo and Bangalter decided to form Daft Punk in 1993. They made their breakthrough with the 1995 single "Da Funk." One of their most well known works is the song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," originally recorded in October 2001, and has been remixed and sampled multiple times since then. They are famous for virtually never showing their faces in public appearances. This was a deliberate decision the two of them made. This trademark originally began out of shyness, but they continued to hide their faces as a way to get the audience to focus on their music and performances and to avoid being treated like 'stars,' whose public and private lives are inseparable. When they perform, they always wear distinctive face-concealing robot-esque helmets. While the duo have done interviews, they also conduct them while concealing their faces in some way. The helmets also have special ventilators to prevent them from overheating. Daft Punk have also been involved with anime. They produced the 2003 anime film Interstella 555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, which was based around their music and their album, Discovery. Each song from the album receives an animation in said film. Daft Punk themselves are featured in animated form in said film. They also composed the soundtrack to the Tron sequel Tron Legacy and appeared in said movie as a cameo. Manuel de Homem-Christo also cited the original Tron as a big influence on him when he was a child.
