Square has always been flashy, its just been able to do it more easily with the newer systems. Look at FFVII since everyone is fixated on it. For its time, those graphics were amazing. Not many games could pull off those levels on a PS1. The plot was generally another Square Enix plot. Not as well delivered as some of the others, but it was still the same thing as usual. I am happy that they are going to somewhat improve the combat system. The original system was overly complicated so they added the auto button which just switched it to the other end of the spectrum.

Story wise depressing, a lot of unnecessary side quests, ending left A LOT of questions, Hope would not shut up for 2 seconds, and no Permanent companions to take everywhere (which was disappointing because I was hoping the main cast would participate more). Combat system wise, very easy to get the hang of and the new enemies added were fun to battle (the extinction thing though made me feel like a jerk after wiping them out lol). Personally I thought part I was enough, story made sense, lots of extra stuff to do after first play through, and the ending was great. Part II lost me with the whole time travel nonsense, and Lightning Returns made me not want to step foot in a church ever again. If they make the same mistakes with 15, I'm officially done with Square Enix
