The game was first launched in August 2018 exclusively for Japanese arcades, although an international beta test for PC platforms was released three years later. Bombergirl is a drastic departure from the original games in terms of style. It features a cast of humanoid girls drawn in an anime style, loosely based upon the original bomberman characters as well as other Konami franchises, such as Castlevania or quiz_magic_academy. Unlike all other Bomberman games, it features high amounts of fanservice. These include bombs exploding away the girl's clothes (leaving them partially naked), bouncing_breasts, a suggestive_fluid that spills upon girls, upskirt shots, and cameltoe.
