Now Viewing: parks_and_recreationTag type: Copyright An American workplace comedy series created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur. It ran from April 9, 2009 to February 24, 2015. The series has an ensemble cast but primarily follows Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope. The series follows Leslie, an ambitious and idealistic woman, who has just become the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, and her attempts to do this job properly with her fellow employees at the Department. The series is part of the wave of mockumentary workplace comedies inspired by the British series The Office. In its initial development, the series was planned to be a spinoff of the American version of The Office, which both of the main creators worked on. The creators decided to create a stand alone series like The Office but with a focus on small town politics. The series, self-admittedly by the creators, took a while to nail down its tone with the creators taking the mixed feedback the first season received to make changes to the story. However, the series steadily gained acclaim the further it ran. The series eventually settled on a light-hearted and optimistic tone for the story, avoiding a lot of what creator Schur considered mean-spirited humor that he felt many comedies ran on at the time. The series' success boosted the careers of many of the main cast's actors who were previously mostly unknown such as Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson), Chris_Pratt (Andy Dwyer), and Aubrey Plaza (April Ludgate) Other Wiki Information Last updated: 07/31/24 1:23 AM by jojosstand This entry is not locked and you can edit it as you see fit. |
