Summary: | Overhauling Pixiv sources |
Description: | Pretty much every Pixiv-sourced image we get from Danbooru is a direct link, which 403's for the users here if you click them. Danbooru system does parses those links, and redirects those to go to the image page if you click them. That's the first thing we need. Secondly, I believe Danbooru does the direct link thing as part of an artist-sourcing system on their upload page. Don't ask me the specifics of how it works(because I have no idea how it does!), but the site would benefit massively from having that same system here. |

And a quote that Shadowblade gave: "Here's a quote from the D-mail that a bot that Raising-K has sends out whenever someone doesn't do this: Do not use links like http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=big&illust_id=16280187. Instead, link directly to the image ( e.g. http://img03.pixiv.net/img/takasu/16280187.png ). The direct link provides a way to uniquely identify the pixiv artist, even if the artist later deletes that image (which happens quite often). The Find Artist feature, which compares the source link to the URLs listed in artist entries to identify the artists of new posts, needs this kind of source in order to work. Danbooru automatically adds the "medium/manga view" link ( http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=16280187 ) to the post page but keeps the direct link as the actual source (seen when editing the tag list)." |
