| Additional Info: | We already send out mod notices to people when we catch them violating tag policy or tag poisoning. This would simply expedite the process, as we could send out the notice at the same time as we revert the edit.
The notice being optional is advantageous because not every tag revert is for a severe enough violation for the user to be warned. Sometimes tag reverts are used to quickly undo an edit that, while incorrect, doesn't really violate tag policy and is not tag poisoning. Additionally, in the case of tag poisoning, it would not necessarily be a good idea to flood the poisoner's inbox with a mail every time we revert one of their edits, since one mod notice should be enough. |
