Now Viewing: m.d._geistTag type: Copyright Refers to the duology of anime OVAs. The full title is 装鬼兵MDガイスト (Sokihei M.D. Geist), which translated to Demon Garbed Soldier M.D. Geist. The M.D. stands for Most Dangerous. The original was made in 1986 with the sequel coming out a decade later. Although Ohata_Koichi was not credited as director, the OVA was actually his directorial debut and he did most of the directing work. The OVA credits Ikeda Hayato as director who was brought onboard the project for appearances due to Ohata being inexperienced at the time. Ohata admitted that the original release had quite a few animation errors due to the production team being disorganized. Nevertheless, the OVA was able get a rerelease in 1996 with some updated animation and a different voice cast. The two anime OVAs are notable for their brutal violence and extremely dark storylines with an amoral cast of characters. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic planet of Jerra. Drifter and super soldier Geist catches the attention of a group of commandos when he demonstrates his formidable fighting skills. He is asked to team up with them to attack and destroy the Brain Palace in order to prevent the Death Force from being released. The mission seems simple enough, but the mission's participants may have their own agendas. . . The OVA was distributed by Central Park Media in North America. CPM was notably quite fond of the OVA and made Geist the mascot of their anime distribution branch US Manga Corps.
